Leeds Tennis League (LTL) Singles Competition

In April 2010, Sport Development, in partnership with the Leeds Tennis League, re-launched the LTL Singles Competition.  The competition stopped 3 years ago, but has been successfully reignited under the guidance of Leeds City Council’s Tennis Development Officer, Charlie Tatman.

In the round beginning in September 2011, we had 70 players, male and female, of all abilities.

Within each group, players play a best-of-3 set singles match against each of the other players in the group.  The league operates in 10 week rounds (may vary slightly), with players being promoted of relegated at the end of this block depending on their finishing position within their group.  After a one week break while the groups are adjusted and new players enter the league, the league recommences for the next round.

Each match is arranged by the players themselves to suit; one player is responsible for arranging the court while the other brings a new tube of tennis balls.

The league is open to anyone over the age of 16 years old in the city, irrespective of standard.  Players do not need to be a member of a tennis club to participate and matches can be played on club, leisure centre or park courts.

British Tennis Membership (BTM) is a requirement to enter but for players who don’t already have a BTM number and rating, the process is quick and free.
